Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from The Fairways. The cycle ride to Cramlington train station takes under 10 minutes, whilst it will take around 15 minutes to reach the Manor Walks shopping and leisure centre.
National Cycle Network (NCN) route 10 runs close to the site and can be accessed in just 10 minutes. Route 10 is a 172 miles coast-to-coast route from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. Locally, the route provides a mainly traffic free journey to South Shields, where it meets Route 1, running along the coast.
Plessey Woods Country Park is also just a 15-minute cycle ride away and is a great place to explore by bike or on foot. Northumberlandia is around a 10-minute walk or 5-minute cycle from the site and is a unique piece of public art with free access to around 4 miles of footpaths around the landform, a visitors’ centre and a cafe. Unfortunately, the park is unsuitable for cycling, but if choosing to cycle to the site you’re welcomed to leave your bike at the entrance.
For those a little more confident on their bike, the coastal town of Blyth can be reached in a 35-minute cycle.
